A personal story
From Christine O'Connor:
After catching a peek of three inner-tubers relaxed, floating along Coldwater Creek, I knew immediately what I wanted to do for Mother's Day. Though we weren't able to float leisurely down the river because we have a 15-month-old son, we decided to go canoeing instead. The same place that offers river-tubing, Adventures Unlimited, also offers river canoe trips in either 4-mile, 7-mile, or 11-mile incriments. Needless to say, with little experience, we took the 4-mile path.
We had never been canoeing on a river before, and no where that had a current. The twists and turns and scenery were so desireable.. it put to shame those "river adventures" at popular theme parks. My son stood at the helm of the canoe like a river boat captain. We canoed alonside some tubers and other canoers. He watched and squeeled with glee.
There were even beautiful, sandy beaches along the way where we could shore up and eat the lunch we packed. The trip took us about four hours and it was the best Mother's Day present I've ever received. It was a step outside of our daily, hectic life. We truly enjoyed our time together. I can't wait to go back!
